Do you use Odoo to run your business? Good news: there is a simple tool to check that your installation has no security flaws. It is called OdooMap. The blogger Korben presented it in an accessible way — and we are relaying the information here, because we like good practices that spare you cold sweats.
What is OdooMap (layman's version)?
- A digital stethoscope: it "listens" to your Odoo and spots what could cause trouble.
- It looks at the version, sees what is visible from the outside and tests access to identify overly permissive settings.
- Goal: detect common weaknesses before ill-intentioned snoopers do.
Why does it matter?
Odoo concentrates your sales, inventory, accounting, HR, website… in short, your treasures. A small regular check beats a big scare. Korben's article explains it very well, with examples.
The simplest points to remember
- Better safe than sorry: a tool like OdooMap exploits nothing, it reveals the settings to fix.
- It is free and open (public code on GitHub), hence transparent.
- Use it legally: only on your own system or with authorization
3 easy steps to sleep soundly
- Update Odoo regularly (updates fix vulnerabilities, as everywhere).
- Strong passwords + two-factor authentication (2FA): a code on your phone in addition to the password.
- Reduce what is visible: don't expose sensitive screens to the public, limit administrative access.
Are you on Odoo Cloud? Follow the acceptable use policy: no testing without prior agreement.

In short: OdooMap is a check-up. Simple, useful, and above all… reassuring. Like a vehicle inspection: you prefer to do it before the breakdown.
