Odoo 19 new features: what your team does better tomorrow morning
AI enters the screens you already know. The real question: do you need it right now?
We go through Odoo 19 team by team: finance, sales, purchasing, logistics, shop floor and human resources, then the AI and ESG that cut across every function.
At the end, you have guidelines to decide: stay on 19 or aim for Odoo 20.
What changes for everyone in Odoo 19?
Before the functions, there is shared comfort. Odoo 19 caches data and translations: a screen you have already opened comes back faster.
- Less retyping: import templates for contacts, leads, orders, entries and tasks, plus bulk editing and bulk tracking.
- Messaging that fits your habits: link your Gmail or Outlook account, schedule an out-of-office reply and preview PDFs in the thread.
- Views the team shares: a favourite filter created by one person immediately serves the others.
Mobile teams are not forgotten: the date is picked in a sliding panel and the installable app refreshes with a swipe.
Which team gains what with Odoo 19?
Six teams, one promise each.
Your accountant closes without nasty surprises
The VAT return includes consistency checks. Bank reconciliation runs from the keyboard. Bills to review are flagged for them, and the annual statement is composed in a single document.
Your salesperson presents a more compelling quote
They hide prices or composition by catalogue section. The customer adjusts their options from the portal. AI estimates the win probability of each deal.
Your buyer plans ahead
They create alternative requests for quotation in one go, buy based on forecast demand and drop the vendor bill straight from the order.
Your logistician handles packages inside packages
Packaging and units of measure become one. Replenishment suggests quantities from history.
Your shop floor lead plans on a Gantt
Manufacturing orders read as a Gantt chart. A single order produces several lots. Operations are costed at actuals or flat rate, and the Shop Floor screen is rebuilt.
Your HR keeps everyone's history
Employee record and contract merge with version history. Overtime rules apply on their own, and a monthly register gathers attendance and leave.
AI and ESG: announcement effect or real lever?
These are the two pillars of Odoo 19. The Enterprise edition includes 15 AI modules.
Agents that know your database
They read your documents and your records. You ask questions in natural language from the AI button in the top bar.
Fields that fill themselves
AI completes fields, drafts and summarises your emails, transcribes meetings and creates leads from a live chat agent.
An AI provider you choose
ChatGPT or Gemini: the choice is yours, with no lock-in to a single player.
Your footprint and social indicators inside the ERP
The ESG app calculates the carbon footprint by scope and tracks social indicators, from gender parity to the pay gap. It connects to Accounting, Employees, Fleet and Payroll.
And your customer-facing teams?
The website, the point of sale and projects also receive their share of useful functions.
- Website and shop: SEO checks directly on records, catalogue sent to Google Merchant Center and stock availability shown for in-store pickup.
- Point of sale: opening hours and service modes prepared in advance, course-by-course service in the dining room, allergens displayed on the kiosk.
- Projects: reusable project and task templates, a task opened as soon as a sold service is confirmed and a Gantt chart offered in the portal.
- Appointments and events: group sessions with limited capacity and events spread over several time slots.
Stay on Odoo 19 or move to Odoo 20?
These are the guidelines Auguria uses to decide with you.
- You stay if your teams already get value from Odoo 19, if your third-party modules do not exist yet for Odoo 20 or if your peak season is near.
- You plan if an Odoo 20 novelty touches your business: access rights, printing, field interventions.
- You start on 20 if your project is new and you want the broadest coverage over time.
On the support side, the situation is simple: Odoo 19 is covered. It precedes Odoo 20 and runs for the largest number of companies. The vendor follows three major versions at a time, namely 20, 19 and 18. As soon as 20 arrived, 17 left the scope.
Each new major version drops the oldest one. On Odoo.sh, the platform then demands a covered version. On your own server, the database keeps running but receives no more fixes: the danger grows with the instance's exposure and the value of your data.
Nothing forces you to migrate this year. Still, choosing your date is more comfortable than having one imposed.
What approach settles it without a gamble?
1
We take inventory
Custom and third-party modules, reports, access rights: we spot what will not carry over as is.
2
We confront
Your business priorities against the novelties of Odoo 20. A useful feature justifies the jump. Otherwise, staying on 19 is a sound choice.
3
We rehearse
A clone of your database serves as a test bed. Your key users run their real days there, and the decision comes afterwards.
4
We switch over
We schedule go-live outside your peak periods and train your teams on the screens that change.
Compare with the other Odoo versions
One page per version, to judge on the evidence.
Your questions about Odoo 19
Yes. The vendor maintains Odoo 20, Odoo 19 and Odoo 18.
No: 20 has been released. 19 is its predecessor, deployed by the largest number of companies and therefore widely proven.
AI present in every application, the ESG module, a VAT return filed step by step, packaging merged into units of measure, an employee record that keeps its versions and projects built from templates.
Your hosting decides. On Odoo.sh, you will have to migrate. On your own machine, the database runs but without security patches, which matters most if it is reachable from the Internet. Plan ahead.
We cut the downtime to the strict minimum: rehearsal on a clone, acceptance testing, then the final switch. The actual time varies with the amount of data and your custom developments.
Not by default. Each module is reviewed, tried and adapted. Access rights, printing and field interventions most often need rework.
We compare both against your module list. 19 has more hindsight and more third-party extensions. 20 covers the longest period and pushes AI further.
Does your Odoo 19 database need to move?
The free audit ends with a clear recommendation: stay, prepare or migrate.
