One key point to configure when integrating the Odoo #accounting module is the chart of accounts.
When you install the French accounting module on Odoo, a very complete, pre-configured chart of accounts is installed. We then work with the client to analyze their original chart of accounts and review it to take advantage of the power of Odoo.
👉 Example: since entries are linked to a partner, notions such as auxiliary accounts no longer make sense.
It is also an opportunity to review the number of digits provided natively in Odoo. We are often asked to go from 6 to 8.
Once the analysis is done, you then need to configure the missing accounts and/or deactivate the unnecessary ones:
- Either manually
- Or through exports/imports. Odoo's import/export features are very well designed.
To make this task easier, Auguria publishes a module that helps create new accounts based on the root account settings. It also lets you redefine the number of digits on all accounts according to the number of digits in the imported file. This then simplifies the migration of historical data.
We have tested it successfully 💪 and it helps us work more efficiently during our client workshops. It is very likely a module we will publish on the #Odoo Store shortly, once we have documented it.
