Accounting entries files (FEC) are computer files that contain all of a company's accounting entries over a given period. These files are used in accounting for several reasons:
Tax audit: Companies are required to provide an FEC file during a tax audit. This file allows the tax authorities to verify the accuracy and completeness of the company's accounting data.
Accounting audit : FEC files can also be used during an accounting audit to verify that the company's accounts comply with the applicable accounting standards.
Financial analysis: FEC files can be used to carry out more precise and faster financial analyses with specialized software. This helps company executives better understand their financial situation and make more informed decisions.
Historical data import: FEC files are a simple and quick way to import history when switching accounting software.
In short, the FEC is an important accounting tool that guarantees the transparency, reliability, and compliance of a company's accounts.
Since the Odoo application provides an FEC import, we tested it in several contexts. Even though some reprocessing is needed to ensure the uniqueness of certain items (entries, reconciliations), we successfully tested this import method with several data sources (SAGE, CEGID, etc.). The FEC standard is a very practical way to preserve the past without the extra workload that used to be required.
