What Does an ERP Project Cost? (Part 2)

Integration: understanding what your integrator brings

As a Gold Odoo partner, Auguria supports you through the key steps of your project: needs analysis, software integration, custom development, training, go-live support, and post-project support.

Each of these steps is fundamental and must never be downplayed. At Auguria, we usually support our clients during the initial needs analysis (scoping phase) with a hands-on introduction to the Odoo suite (modules selected together with our clients), which helps key users quickly grasp the philosophy of the tool and what it will bring them. This initial phase makes it possible to size the number of days required for the integration service as closely as possible to users' needs. Of course, an estimated budget is provided beforehand.

The next phase, known as implementation, consists of installing the software within your system and adjusting every required setting to your needs, your activity and the specifics of your business. This is why you need an integrator at your side who masters both the Odoo suite and your line of business. Auguria applies a proven methodology that secures this step, which can be delicate in some contexts. Odoo modules are generally deployed in batches, each including development, testing and configuration, then acceptance testing (verification and validation by the client). The budget for this phase obviously depends on the functional scope installed, but also on how much custom development is requested. For this reason, Auguria distinguishes between rates for development, support, and project management. The support of an integrator is an essential asset for your project, and the time spent on the implementation phase must not be underestimated, nor must the project management they will carry out alongside you. Of course, you should find the detail of all these items in your quote.

Once your ERP is installed, and if the initial phase was not enough to train all users, training sessions are organized. Rates can also vary from one integrator to another, but are generally between €900 and €1,200 per day. Note that this training can be funded by your OPCO (French skills funding body) when your integrator holds the Data-Dock label, which is the case for Auguria.

Finally, after a stabilization period of 1 to 2 weeks following go-live, you are taken care of by Auguria's support teams for assistance, functional enhancements or bug fixes. Functional support packs are available if you do not have the resources in-house.

Think ROI

ROI (Return on Investment) is the ratio between the benefits and the costs of the ERP over a given period. Calculating it is obvious, you might say? Not so sure. It is not always easy to calculate, too many executives are focused on the short term, and some are afraid of highlighting changes that affect the organization. Yet estimating the ROI of installing an ERP (or software on a limited scope) can quickly help you decide whether to implement it in your company. Likewise, if your choice is already made, consider setting up a few indicators that will let you really measure ROI with users, share the progress, and go further. A few concrete examples you can measure:

• time saved during onboarding (new hires, temporary staff)

• fewer errors and less re-keying

• increased revenue

• gains from harmonized processes: smoother cross-department and cross-site workflows

• performance gains from mobility (services accessible from anywhere)

Finally, do not forget to include in the cost of any ERP project the time your teams will have to spend throughout the project. Do not underestimate it. There is no successful project without team involvement, even when your integrator is skilled and available.
