Auguria News

If you have ever filled out a fifty-page supplier security questionnaire before being able to sign with a major account, you know how much your information system's security has become a business topic in its own right. Good news: on April 21, 2026, Odoo obtained ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification. A milestone that puts the vendor in the same league as the most established ERPs on the market, without the associated entry ticket.

A certification, not a slogan

ISO 27001 is the international reference standard for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS). Behind the acronym, an independent audit — carried out here by SGS — that scrutinizes:

  • risk mapping and continuous risk management,
  • the technical controls in place (backups, access management, encryption, environment isolation),
  • internal governance, with roles and responsibilities clearly assigned up to the executive committee,
  • the security culture of all teams, not just the IT department.

All of this is measured against the three historical pillars of information security: confidentiality of the data, integrity of that data, and availability of the service when you need it to produce, sell, and invoice.

The scope is the whole Odoo ecosystem

A certification is judged by what it covers. On this point, the vendor has gone broad:

  • the design, development, and support of Odoo applications,
  • SaaS hosting (Odoo Online) and Odoo.sh,
  • secure electronic exchanges with banks and public administrations,
  • professional services — implementation, migration, support.

This breadth is precisely what makes the certification useful: it does not stop at a cosmetic subset, it encompasses the complete chain, from the line of code to your go-live project.

Why timing changes everything

Three deadlines add up in 2026 and 2027 and push security to the top of executives' agendas.

E-invoicing in France. From September 1, 2026, all VAT-registered companies must be able to receive invoices in electronic format. Large companies and mid-sized companies must also issue them from that date; SMEs and very small businesses will switch to issuing on September 1, 2027. All of it goes through Partner Dematerialization Platforms approved by the DGFIP, which must, by design, demonstrate a high level of security.

Belgian obligation already active. For Franco-Belgian groups, the topic is even more immediate: since January 1, 2026, B2B e-invoicing has been mandatory in Belgium, exclusively via the Peppol network. Odoo has been an operational Peppol access point there since version 16.4, and the service is included in the license — with no per-invoice cost.

NIS2 Directive. The Résilience bill, which carries the French transposition of NIS2, is expected in mid-2026. ANSSI published its ReCyF framework on March 17, 2026, so that affected companies can prepare ahead. Between 15,000 and 18,000 French entities are in scope, most of them SMEs and mid-sized companies. For these organizations, relying on an ISO 27001-certified vendor does not do all the work, but it clears a substantial part of the compliance effort.

The immediate effect on your tenders

The real operational change happens here. The purchasing departments of major accounts, public authorities, and regulated sectors (healthcare, finance, defense, energy) now almost systematically ask for proof of a formalized security approach from suppliers and their software subcontractors.

With ISO 27001 on Odoo:

  • security questionnaires can largely be completed by referring to the vendor's certification,
  • comparison with the most expensive proprietary ERPs on the market no longer works to Odoo's disadvantage on security,
  • the chain of responsibility is clear in case of an incident, which reassures cyber insurers and legal teams.

For mid-sized companies aiming to be approved as suppliers by larger prime contractors, a major barrier is removed.

What remains on your side

The certification covers the vendor and its managed environments. It does not cover, and this is important:

  • your access, rights, and user group configurations,
  • your custom developments beyond the standard scope,
  • your integrations with non-certified third-party tools,
  • your internal practices: password management, employee departures, local backups, data exports.

ERP security is always a shared responsibility between the vendor, the integrator, and the customer. The difference is that a significant part of this work is now done, documented, and audited.

Auguria's positioning

This certification validates a direction we have long taken on sensitive projects: Odoo makes it possible to combine three requirements that other market players struggle to reconcile at the same time.

  • An open-source platform, therefore auditable and free of proprietary lock-in.
  • A choice of hosting between Odoo cloud, sovereign cloud, or on-premise, depending on your regulatory constraints and your data.
  • An international security standard, now recognized by third-party audit.

On all our projects — unified ERP, accounting integrations, e-commerce, industry, services — we build this logic in from the analysis phase: rights model, traceability, recovery plan, tax compliance, and e-invoicing. Odoo's ISO 27001 certification reinforces what we were already implementing, and simplifies the dialogue with CISOs and DPOs on the customer side.

And now?

If you are already in production on Odoo, no action is required. The certification applies to the environments concerned.

If you are evaluating an ERP change or preparing for NIS2 and the September 2026 e-invoicing, now is a good time to talk. Auguria supports SMEs, mid-sized companies, and industrial groups across the entire chain — scoping, configuration, development, deployment, support — with a constant focus on security and compliance.
