The bank synchronization feature lets Odoo users link their bank accounts to the software for simpler accounting management.

Here is how it generally works in Odoo:

  1. Connecting to your bank:
    • In the Odoo Accounting app, go to Accounting > Configuration > Bank Accounts.
    • Click "Add a Bank Account"

    • Fill in the required information and, depending on your bank and your Odoo version, you may be able to connect your bank account directly through a third-party integration.

In France, 3 third-party integrations are available:
      • Saltedge (Free)
      • Enablebanking (Free)
      • Ponto (€4/month)
At Auguria, we recommend this last integration because Ponto is a European company.
  2. Importing bank statements:
    • If your bank is not supported for direct synchronization, you can often import your bank statements manually. Odoo generally supports several formats such as CSV, OFX, QIF, etc. Some banks, such as HSBC, only provide CFONB exports. In that case you need to install the OCA module developed by Akretion, "Import French CFONB Bank Statements".
    • In Accounting > Dashboard, click the relevant bank account, then "Import Statement".
  3. Bank reconciliation:
    • Once the transactions have been imported (or synchronized), Odoo provides a reconciliation tool that helps users match bank statement transactions with existing accounting entries.
    • On the dashboard, under the relevant bank account, click "Reconcile X Items" and you will see the transactions to reconcile.
    • Odoo often tries to match transactions automatically, but you can also reconcile them manually if needed.
  4. Automation:
    • For supported banks, Odoo can automatically fetch your transactions at regular intervals (for example, every day), which greatly simplifies accounting management.
  5. Third-party integrations:
    • In some countries or for some banks, Odoo may not offer direct support. However, there are often modules or plugins developed by the community or by Odoo partners that can make this integration easier.
  6. Security:
    • When you connect Odoo to your bank, security is paramount. Always make sure you use secure connections and follow security best practices to protect your data.

It is always a good idea to consult the official Odoo documentation or ask an official Odoo partner such as Auguria for help, to make sure you configure and use bank synchronization in the most efficient and secure way possible.
